Whether it’s taking down an old building, demolishing a dangerous structure or removing debris, demolition is messy business. It takes big machines to do big jobs and the result is often a debris laden site. However, demolition is also about leaving a space clear for future work. And while many may only think about the destructive part, there is another side to demolition work.

The clean-up and recycling part of demolition is often forgotten. However, it is one of the most important aspects of a demolition project. There is no point in a demolished structure that hasn’t been removed to make way for new work. Not only this, but demolition debris and waste can also have a significant impact on the environment.

In order to keep the environmental impact to a minimum and clear a site as efficiently and quickly as possible, demolition companies work hard to salvage and recycle as much of the demolition waste as possible, taking what cannot be used off site to be disposed of correctly. A good demolition company will be able to take care of every aspect, from planning and demolition to clearing and disposal.

Abyss Demolition strives to ensure up to 85 per cent of the demolition waste generated on site is salvaged or recycled. Their experienced technicians have all of the tools and demolition attachments to accurately sort and dispose of the waste, resulting in a cleared and clean site, ready for new construction.

For a comprehensive demolition that is about more than just destruction, talk to the experts at Abyss Demolition. Offering demolition services across Queensland and beyond, they have the skills and qualifications to get the job done right. For more information, call Abyss Demolition on (07) 3341 9400 or submit an enquiry form online.

If you choose to proceed with the demolition of a structure, there are a number of steps you must take before the company can come in. With Abyss Demolition, a Queensland based asbestos removal and demolition company, there five things you must do prior to demolition. These include:

Prior to the commencement of any demolition, you will need to acquire a demolition permit from your local council. This can take several weeks so it is important you look into this well before the intended demolition date.

If any foliage is being removed, particularly trees, you may also need a tree removal permit. This is dependent on the age, size and location of the trees. You will need to check with your local council if there are any vegetation protection orders in place on your property.

The sewerage needs to be capped off. This can be done by a licensed plumber who will go on site for you and arrange for the council inspection.

A number of services need to be abolished from the site. This includes the electricity and meter. This is different from getting it disconnected and must be arranged through your utility provider. Alternatively, you can have a temporary builder’s supply installed if necessary. You should contact your electricity retailer to organise this.

You will also need to abolish the gas service. This is similar to abolishing the electricity service. You will need to contact your retail gas provider for the relevant forms to complete for your area.

For more information about how Abyss Demolition can help you, or to book the demolition company for a project, call them on (07) 3341 9400. Alternatively, you can fill out an enquiry form online. A demolition is a big decision, so it is important you look into all the details of the process and costs of the service before beginning a project.
